Abstract

This dataset displays a business directory that lists all licensed Group Homes for Persons with Mental Retardation (GHPMR) in the District of Columbia. On January 17, 2007, Director of the Department of Health (DOH) Dr. Gregg A. Pane announced the realignment of DOH. The reorganization consolidated 11 administrations into seven. Under the new structure, the Health Care Regulation and Licensing Administration (HCRLA) and Bureau of Community Hygiene, as well the Health Professional Licensing Administration (HPLA), were combined into one entity, the Health Regulation and Licensing Administration (HRLA). HRLA provides services, administration and regulatory oversight through the following programs: Health Professional Licensing Administration; Pharmaceutical Control Division; Health Regulation Administration; Animal Disease Prevention Division; Food Protection Division; Rodent Control Division. The Intermediate Care Facilities Division (ICFD) licenses group homes for persons with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities residing in the District of Columbia. The ICFD conducts annual on-site and monitoring surveys to ensure the facilities and agencies maintain compliance with local and federal requirements. The ICFD also conducts investigations of unusual incidents and complaints, and identifies deficiencies that may affect state licensure or eligibility for federal reimbursements under the Medicaid program. Group Homes for Persons with Mental Retardation (GHPMR) are licensed community residence facilities that provide a home-like environment for at least four (4) but no more than eight (8) related or unrelated mentally retarded individuals who require specialized living arrangements and maintains necessary staff, programs, support services and equipment for their care and habilitation. Additional information about Group Homes for Persons with Mental Retardation and the other facility types regulated by ICFD may be found on the HRLA website.
