District Department of the Environment staff collected information on 28 types of green feature in DC. They consulted various reliable 3rd party resources such as the DC Green building council, energy star database, nonprofits, and websites. Some knowledge experts added information such as wildlife and wetlands.

DC GIS joined thee 28 tables into one maste table andf geocoded the sites to the Master Address Repositoty. Some sites already contained coordinates that staff used to map their location. Those that could not be geocoded were visually located on the map. Sites with Virginia addresses, all marinas, were placed on the marina.
