Hospitals were identified from lists published by the D.C. Hospital Association website and the D.C. Government. A point shapefile was created by geocoding the addresses. These points were compared to the 1995 orthophotographs, the building footprint layer, and the D.C. Real Property Tax owner points for address and ownership information. The square suffix lot attribute was retained as the link to the data from the D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue. A link to the appropriate website was provided for reference. The geocoded points were then moved to the center of the corresponding buildings and core attributes were added.

Removed Columbia Hospital for Children and the old George Washington Hospital and added the new George Washington Hospital. All changes from source information verified August 2002 and February/March 2003.

All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.

Staff geocoded the hospitals to the Master Address Repository adding the MAR adress id to the attribute table. Staff changed the name for the MEDLINK Hospital to The Specialty Hospital of Washington and added the appropriate web link.

in OCTO

Using a patient protocol transport appendix from the DC Office of Unified Communications, staff added attributes delineating trauma and care types provided at hospitals.
